Conformance status
We are working to make this website accessible in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at conformance level AA. The website is currently partially conformant with these requirements.
Accessibility measures
We already implement the following features and standards:
- Page language is set for screen readers (de/en).
- Skip link to main content at the top of the page.
- Keyboard operation with visible focus indicators.
- Text and control contrast checked against WCAG AA.
- Animations are disabled when “reduce motion” is enabled.
- Images with descriptive alternative text.
- Semantic HTML structure with headings and landmarks.
- Current page, section, and language are marked for assistive technologies.
- Mobile menu: keyboard-operable; Escape closes it; focus stays within the menu.
- Accessibility rules are checked during development via ESLint.
- Automated axe and contrast checks run in CI (WCAG 2.2 AA).
- Jobs page: filters as tabs, labelled search, listbox for roles, keyboard-operable details.
- Contact form with visible labels, required fields, and clear error feedback.
- Table of contents on long pages (legal, accessibility statement, long articles).
- Partner events: descriptive alt text on event banners; detail panel with aria-live.
- Team cards: keyboard-openable profiles, labelled contact buttons, group chips on photos.
Text size and zoom
There is no custom text-size control in the navigation. Instead, we use relative font sizes (rem) so the entire page — text, buttons, icons, and layout — scales reliably with your browser zoom.
To enlarge or reduce the display:
- Zoom in: Ctrl + Plus (Windows/Linux) or Cmd + Plus (macOS)
- Zoom out: Ctrl + Minus or Cmd + Minus
- Reset: Ctrl + 0 or Cmd + 0
Native browser zoom is more accessible than a custom text-size toggle because it enlarges everything — not just body copy.
Content not yet fully accessible
We are aware that the following areas still have room for improvement:
- Decorative 3D and flying elements are visual only and hidden from screen readers.
- Externally linked third-party documents are outside our control.
- Not all subpages have yet been manually tested with screen readers.
